  13. 1.  The purpose of the IGA_Net<tm> Acadian Genealogy Conference is to
  14. provide an international forum for the research of Acadian/Cajun lines.
  15.  
  16. 2.  Messages in this echo must conform with the current rules in place
  17. for IGA_Net<tm>.  Please note that any message which is lawful,
  18. friendly, and related to genealogy is not likely to fall afoul of any
  19. IGA_Net<tm> rule.
  20.  
  21. 3.  Personal attacks or "flames" are prohibited as is offensive language.
  22.  
  23. 4.  Please leave the moderating to the moderator.
  24.  
  25. 5.  General announcements regarding genealogical books, software, or
  26. related products are permitted, providing they are brief, one-time, and
  27. the person making the announcement will not profit monetarily.
  28. Discussion, comparison, and reviews of such products are encouraged.

  30. 6.  Since names are the heart and soul of genealogy, aliases are
  31. extremely discouraged.  If, due to BBS software limitations, an alias
  32. is used in the message header, the real name MUST be signed in the body
  33. of the message.

  35. 7.  Illegal information or activities are not permitted.
  36.  
  37. 8.  The use of taglines is strongly dissuaded. In the event the
  38. originator of a message finds he/she has an urgent need to utilize a
  39. tagline, the tagline will only be a short line detailing research
  40. surnames:

  42.             Researching: JONES, GREEN, and CALLAWAY
  43.  
  44. Cutesy taglines add nothing to the value of genealogical research
  45. being conducted by the message originator.... in fact, they detract
  46. greatly from the serious purpose of the message content.
  47.  
  48. Also, taglines add to the length of messages and therefore add to the
  49. cost of transferring traffic via continental and intercontinental
  50. telephone. Again, you are requested to empathize with those who are
  51. paying the long-distance charges and leave taglines off your messages.

  53. 9.  This conference may not be gated to any other network without the
  54. express consent of the IGA_Net<tm> Zone Coordinator, 440:1/0.

  56. 10. Messages should be in English if possible, but there are no general
  57. language restrictions.

  59. 11. Remember it costs money for most people to receive this echo.
  60. Please keep message quoting to a minimum by quoting only when necessary
  61. and then only quoting the relevant parts.

  63. 12. Questions or comments about these rules, the echo, or its
  64. management should be sent via netmail to the moderator.

  70. hexadecimal (127 decimal)) and characters of value less than 20
  71. hexadecimal (32 decimal) cause numerous problems with software now in
